Kumana National Park is just a short drive to the South, home to leopards, elephants and other exotic wildlife, and tours are easily arranged.

The Tsunami Hotel was named in 1999, five years before the 2004 tsunami (which flattened our place), but due to the overwheming positive reaction from local people to our original name, we decided to keep it. After Japan we're figuring out a new name, to be announced soon....

Of course, Arugam Bay is most famous for its water sports, mainly surfing - a clean, glassy faced 300m right hand point break, often stated as top 6 worldwide in surfing circles.
