...to our hotel.  We're right in the centre of Arugam Bay, with spacious redwood tree and white-sand grounds, just in front of the beautiful warm Indian Ocean. Laze away the days in our hammocks, relax in our bar, or get active for what Arugam Bay is world famous for - the Surf! A picture speaks a thousand words, and there are lots of photographs to look at below.

Arugam Bay has a pristine local ecology unrivaled in Sri Lanka; a fresh daily catch of seafood; fine weather, beautiful views, clean air, stunning sunrises, amazing bird, animal and plant life, a vibrant local culture and super friendly local people; healthy pursuits like yoga, swimming, surfing and magnificent walks on unspoiled beaches ....

Kumana National Park is just a short drive to the South, home to leopards, elephants and other exotic wildlife, and tours are easily arranged.

We have ten rooms that cater to every budget, from $20 to $80, and we have WiFi broadband available. For bookings and information call (+94) 07766 42991.

The Tsunami Hotel was named in 1999, five years before the 2004 tsunami (which flattened our place), but due to the overwheming positive reaction from local people to our original name, we decided to keep it. We are in the centre of the Bay, with the big rock in the ocean out front as a landmark, or just ask any local person where The Tsunami Hotel is....

Of course, Arugam Bay is most famous for its water sports, mainly surfing - a clean, glassy faced 300m right hand point break, often stated as top 6 worldwide in surfing circles. We hosted three international surf competitions last year; you can also kite surf and windsurf. See  magicSeaweed Arugam Bay surf forecast
